Welcome to Poland
A suburban residential village with an enchanting municipal forest.
Drive seven miles southeast from Youngstown and you will be in the residential village of Poland. While Poland mostly consists of family homes on quiet streets, there is still plenty of activity here. Locally owned restaurants and small shops allow residents to stay within their neighborhood when they are not up to driving out of town. Growing families and young professionals enjoy the slower pace of life while having access to an urban area just a few miles away.
There is significant history within the borders of Poland. The village was originally founded in 1802 and some of the structures within the area have been around since the 1850s. Plaques on the front doors of certain buildings identify them as historic. Residents can walk or drive through the area and get an idea of what life may have been like a century ago.
What to Love
- Beautiful family homes on generous sized lots
- Variety of local restaurants
- A large swath of land within the municipal forest
- Easy commute to Youngstown
Local Lifestyle
Poland’s small population creates a rural feel even though it is a few miles outside of an urban area. Families have room to move with larger homes having lots of backyard space to entertain. Those that must go to work in a neighboring town or city will find the commute relatively simple but will be happy to be back home in their sanctuary once work is over. Busy families develop extended networks of friends and family to shuttle children back and forth to school activities if needed.
South of Poland, the majority of land turns into farms and forests limiting the number of people passing through the village. Residents enjoy silent evenings where you can hear the sound of spring peepers or the late summer chirping of the crickets. Backyard barbeques and bonfires turn neighbors into friends that last a lifetime.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Local restaurants give residents a place to come together and catch up on the latest news and happenings within the town. Stonefruit Coffee is a coffee shop with really fantastic coffee. Not only can you sit with a friend or do some work from your laptop, but you can also take some of their deliciously roasted coffee home with you. Stop by Bake Me Treats and chat with Gabriele about ordering the perfect cake for your child’s birthday party. While you are there, pick up a box of pastries to share with the family (or hide as part of your secret snack stash). If you need to get something more nutritious into your body, Poland Nutrition has healthy shakes and juices prepared with good vibes to feed your body and soul.
El Vallarta is a local Mexican restaurant with fabulously fresh food prepared using authentic methods and recipes. There are several local places to get together with friends that are also family-friendly if you need to bring the kids along. Pour House Bar & Grill and Coaches Burger Bar along with LaRocca’s Pizza & Pasta have great menus that will allow everyone to find something they like.
While you will not find major shopping stores in the village of Poland, there are a few shops worth visiting. The Flower Loft prepares personalized arrangements that are gorgeous and perfect for a housewarming gift or a just because moment. Consign & Design has lots of quality furnishings and home decor to update your home’s style when you are needing something new. The Shops at Boardman Park are not technically in Poland but just a few miles down the road where you will find over thirty stores to choose from.
Things to Do
Poland Municipal Forest is the first forest owned by a municipality in the entire state of Ohio. Over the course of almost 100-years, the forest grew as more land was donated to the cause and has been tirelessly cared for by local members of the community. The park is very active with residents utilizing the many trails within the forest for walking, jogging, hiking, and during the winter months snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Horseback riding is permitted as well and is a fantastic way to get your horse out for a ride while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Take a day trip and visit nearby wineries like L’uva Bella which is a few miles east on route 224. Come back into Poland and go south to find The Vineyards at Pine Lake with a beautiful tasting room and outdoor area with spectacular views of the lake. If you do not drink wine, they have local brews on tap as well. Go a little further south and you will find Sundog Cellars Ciderhouse & Winery where you will find unique blends of wines and ciders you will not find elsewhere. Remember to drive responsibly, pick up bottles or growlers to bring home with you after your tasting.
Countryside Farm and Market has an annual Pumpkinfest with pony rides, corn maze, and activities for everyone. It is also the perfect place for a family reunion or formal event.
Play a round of golf on an award-winning golf course. Reserve Run Golf Course is one of the top public courses in Ohio with a gorgeous course, pro-shop, and restaurant to enjoy while you are there.
