Local Lifestyle
Boardman has a nice blend of residential and commercial space. The main parts of the town have quiet residential streets with very walkable sidewalks and lots of trees. It is the kind of area where you could wake up in the morning and take your dog for a walk without the need to drive to a park. Just a few streets away, you will find a major commercial center with plenty to explore from shops to restaurants and everything in between. This blend creates the perfect setup for a convenient suburban lifestyle, you have a quiet street with conveniences that are only a few minutes away.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
The Yankee Kitchen Family Restaurant has food all day long but breakfast is what they are known for. It is an ideal place to bring the entire family without needing to cook. The best coffee in town can be found at Peaberry’s Cafe & Bakery. They have a fantastic menu of coffee drinks such as the Caramel Temptation or Fireside Raspberry Mocha, but they are not just about coffee. They also have a nice breakfast menu and a bakery with homemade goodies if you would like to indulge.
Having a wide range of restaurants gives residents plenty of options when they are not in the mood to cook at home. There are many options to pick up takeout on the way home from work. The Krakus Polish Deli & Bakery has a large menu of authentic Polish food to choose from and is the perfect place to pick up delicious food that everyone will enjoy. Ghossain’s Gourmet Mediterranean Foods has a nice menu of Mediterranean foods that are perfect for everyone to share.
The Shops at Boardman Park will have you and your home looking fantastic. You will find over thirty stores to choose from ranging from clothing stores to household goods. There are even a few specialty stores mixed in.
Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is popular in Boardman and the surrounding area. There are many parks, lakes, rivers, and streams to explore. If you need gear, the Outdoor Recreation Equipment shop located right in town could help you find what you need.
Mill Creek Park along with Mill Creek Lake are beautiful locations to hike or kayak. In the summer months, you could rent a boat if you do not have one. Boardman Park has a disc golf course, town dog park, indoor and outdoor spaces to rent, and many other recreational activities for everyone. Hitchcock Woods will have you exploring a deep forest right outside of town on the marked hiking trails.
Local churches and nonprofit groups frequently hold small festivals and fairs within the town. They provide wonderful opportunities for families, friends, and neighbors to enjoy spending time with others while partaking in the festivities.
Forest Lawn Memorial Park is a cemetery but the surrounding park and buildings are beautiful and full of history. It is on the National Register of Historic Places making it the perfect place to learn more about the beginnings of Boardman. The “Little Church” within the park is unique and adds tons of character to the surroundings.
